Student FAQs

Can’t find the answer you’re looking for? We’ve shared some of our most frequently asked questions to help you out.

1. I am feeling unsafe now and I need to report something quickly. What do I do?

If you have immediate concerns or issues about your safety or the safety of others, please report these to the Job Corps Safety Hotline by:

  • Calling 844-JC1-SAFE (1-844-521-7233), or
  • Texting the word SAFE to 8441, or
  • Complete this form: https://jctips.com
2. Will I be selected to complete the survey?

SEA: All students who arrive at least two weeks prior to the SEA survey will be invited to take the SEA survey. Check your Job Corps email account for the survey invitation.

SSA: All students who arrive at least two weeks prior to the SSA survey are eligible to participate. However, only a sample of students will be invited to complete the survey during each administration. Not all students will be asked to complete the survey and you may not be selected to participate. If you were not selected to participate for an administration, you could be selected next time.

3. How long will it take me to complete the survey?

SEA: The survey takes about 15 to 20 minutes to complete but there is no time limit. You also have the option of stopping the survey at any time and completing it later in the survey window.

SSA: The survey takes about 15 minutes to complete but there is no time limit. You also have the option of stopping the survey at any time and completing it later in the survey window.

4. Why do I need to check my Job Corps email to complete the SEA or the SSA?

The survey is completed online. If you are eligible and/or selected to participate you will receive an invitation to the survey through your Job Corps email with a link to the survey. Clicking the survey link in the email leads to the online survey. If the link does not work, copy the address, and paste it into the Web browser. This should take you to the home page of the survey. The PIN in the email is needed to start the survey. The PIN is the number in red immediately below the link.

5. Will the center staff know I have taken the SEA/SSA or see my answers?

No, this information is not shared with the center. Participation in the survey is confidential. Center staff will not know if you completed the survey or see your specific answers on the survey. We will provide the center with a report that covers the results of all students who completed the survey.

6. Why should I complete the SEA or the SSA?

SEA: Completing the SEA is your chance to tell your center and the National Office what you think about the activities and services offered at your center. It is important for each student to participate and complete the survey. All student responses are used in reports to the centers, regions, and National Office. Your answers will help Job Corps know what you like about your center and what needs to be improved.

SSA: Completing the SSA is your chance to tell your center and the National Office what you think about safety at your center. It is important for students to participate and complete the survey. All student responses are used in reports to the centers, regions, and National Office. Your answers will help Job Corps know how safe you feel at your center and if improvements are needed.

7. What happens after I take the SEA or SSA?

You will receive an email thanking you for your participation. After the survey window ends, center, regional, and National Office staff will receive a report that describes how all students responded.

8. Can I listen to the SEA or SSA?

Yes. The survey has audio built in for each page, meaning the survey will read the questions and answers to you, if you choose. You can use earbuds or a headset during the survey and press the play button on each page of the survey to hear the survey questions.

9. Can I ask for help during the SEA or SSA?

Yes. If the survey is not working properly on the computer or your mobile device, you may ask your IT staff or any staff person for help. If you need help with questions or words on the survey, you can ask a fellow student or staff member for help. Center staff and fellow students should not tell you how to answer a question. There are no wrong answers, and we want to know what YOU think. You can also go to https://jcstudentsurveys.com/#contact-us  and fill out a help form, and JC Student Surveys Support will contact you.

10. Do I have to complete the SEA or SSA?

No. Completing the SEA or SSA is voluntary. You do not have to complete a survey if you do not want to participate. However, the survey is an important chance for students to let center, regional, and National Office staff know your thoughts about your center. We strongly encourage you to take time to complete the survey and have your voice heard.

11. Can I take the SEA or SSA on my phone or other device, like a tablet?

Yes. Access your Job Corps email with your phone or tablet. If you do not know how, ask your IT staff. If you receive a survey invitation in your email, click the link for the survey home page. If clicking the link does not take you to the site, copy the link and paste it into your browser. The email includes a PIN you will need to start the survey.

12. What if I did not receive a survey invitation email?

SEA: All students who arrived at Job Corps at least two weeks prior to the survey are invited to participate in the SEA survey. If you cannot find your survey invitation, please check your junk/spam folder as well as your deleted emails. Survey invitation emails are sent throughout the first day of the survey window. Please be patient and wait until the end of the day before you submit a help form (go to https://jcstudentsurveys.com/#contact-us).

SSA: Only a sample of students will be selected to complete the SSA each quarter. If you did not receive an invitation, you were not selected to participate. You could be asked to participate during the next survey administration. Survey invitation emails are sent throughout the first day of the survey window.

13. What if I completed the SEA or SSA but did not receive a thank you email?

If you completed the survey but did not receive a ‘thank you’ email, please check your junk/spam/deleted folders. You can also go to https://jcstudentsurveys.com/#contact-us  and fill out a help form, and JC Student Surveys Support will confirm your completion.

14. Can the SEA or SSA survey link and PIN be sent to my alternative email address?

Yes. Please submit a help form via “Contact Us” on the website, https://jcstudentsurveys.com/#contact-us. Choose the “please send the survey to my personal email” option in the help form and provide your personal email address. In the interest of survey security, if the email you provide does not match the alternate email you have provided to your center, you will be required to provide additional information (student ID number and phone number) to have the survey link sent to the requested email address.
