I have used promotional activities in the past leading up to the SEA such as bags of goodies with the SEA announcement flier attached to them to remind the students the SEA was coming up. This time I did an incentive the week before to see how many students check their email and responded to me. Nothing about the SEA was mentioned in this email, it was to see how many students check their email regularly.
The spo sent out a daily email reminding students to take the survey. An incentive was offered to every student who brought their thank you Page of the survey to the spo office. For those that did they were able to choose from three $5.00 gift cards to a fast-food restaurant. The career pathways director also encouraged the instructors to give the students 5 mins each morning to complete the survey. We did not reach the goal however we did much better than previous surveys. We are thinking of new and creative ways to reach the goal on the next survey.
No incentives; However, we discuss the importance of the survey and why giving feedback helps centers to make necessary improvements. What has helped our numbers is to set a time that all students can do the survey during class hours.
We offer the SEA during the training day while we have the student’s undivided attention. We have student proctors. We are offering pizza party for the proctors. Students are given small bags of candy after they complete the survey.
We provided an incentive for proving that their email worked which was sending an email to our poc and then proving they completed the survey. We also ask for suggested fun activities we can do to celebrate reaching our participation goal.
